Did you know that your body turns excess protein into sugar while you digest it? One mistake, I would guess predominantly men make, is we sometimes eat too much protein in one sitting.
It’s hard to say no to that 12 ounce steak grilled to perfection. But unless you are some type of super human, there is absolutely NO WAY your body can digest that much protein at once! And all that excess protein that your body can’t process, gets turned into glucose, aka sugar, in your bloodstream. This will result in your body having an insulin (the fat storage hormone) spike, which causes fat storage!!!
Most people can eat about 3-4 ounces of meat at one sitting, maybe 4-6 ounces if you’re a big person like myself (6 ft 8, 240 lbs). Fill your plate up with veggies, 3-4 ounces of protein, and a hefty helping of healthy fats!!! You will feel more full and better thinking of counting nutrients when choosing your foods rather than counting calories.
